1 shot dead in Dimapur

  1 shot dead in Dimapur Dimapur, September 22: One person was shot dead in the wee hours Tuesday near IMC Hall. The body was discovered by the residents in the morning with blood stains all over, near a godown. When contacted, PRO Police, Relo T Aye said the dead body of a person shot dead was found near the roadside in the IMC Hall area. As per initial investigation, it is known that the deceased with bullet injuries is from Dhemaji district of Assam and we are investigating it thoroughly, he said. When asked about the motive behind the killing of a non Naga, Relo Aye said, “We are investigating the matter and till so far the motive is unknown and only after investigation we will come to know it.” Meanwhile, according to a driving license, the deceased has been identified as Jiten Gogoi. COVID-19: India records over 1 lakh single-day recoveries for first time, fresh cases dip below 76k   New Delhi, September 22: India reported over 1 lakh coronavirus recoveries in a single-day for the first time, improving the recovery rate to 80.86%, while fresh cases also dropped below 76,000 after two weeks, according to the Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The data updated at 8 am showed that during the past 24 hours, 1,01,468 COVID-19 patients recuperated, while 75,809 new cases were recorded, pushing the overall figures to 55,62,663 infections and 44,97,867 recoveries. Also, 1,053 patients died during the period, taking the cumulative death figures to 88,935, the data showed, reporting a COVID-19 case fatality rate of 1.60%. There are 9,75,861 active coronavirus cases in the country, which make 17.54% of the total caseload, the data stated.   Colleges to remain closed in Nagaland Kohima, September 20: Even as Nagaland Government in consonance with Union Ministry order has permitted partial reopening of schools for classes 9 to 12 as part of the Unlock-4 process from today, the higher and technical educational institutes will take more time to reopen. Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy on September 18 had issued an order allowing the partial reopening of Class 9 to 12 on voluntary basis for taking guidance from their teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The order had also permitted reopening of the skill or entrepreneurship training institutions or centres and the preventive measures required to be taken for containing spread of COVID-19 in these institutions/centres. The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2020, which seeks amendment to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, proposes to include "public servants" in the prohibited category and decrease administrative expenses through foreign funds by an organisation to 20 per cent from 50 per cent earlier.   The Bill was introduced in the House on Sunday.  4.4 magnitude earthquake hits Assam By NE NOW NEWS September 22, 2020 7:53 am* A mild intensity earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale shook Assam in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The quake struck at 1.28 am at a depth of 10 km on latitude 26. 346 degree North and longitude 91.338 degree East with its epicentre at north-west of Hajo in Kamrup district of the state, MET officials said. As the quake lasted only a few seconds and occurred in the midnight many people were not aware about it. There was no report of any damage due to the earthquake.
